Remembering Michael Scanlon

kate_schaeferLast November, my friend Michael Scanlon died after a fall. Jodi Kimbell Scanlon, his widow, is holding a wake for Michael at Norwescon, this Saturday at 8 pm, in the hotel bar. She hopes that as many of Michael's friends as possible will join her there. If you're going to be at Norwescon, please stop by. Michael and Jodi met at a Norwescon many years ago, and he ran the Writers Workshop at Norwescon for several years.
Kira Franz has posted information about another memorial to Michael here, a project to raise enough money for a scholarship to send a student to Clarion West. The longstanding critique group Michael started 20 years ago, Writers Cramp, is spearheading this effort. They welcome donations from all of Michael's friends.
