Eventually I may write something about what a great time I had at Potlatch. In the meantime, let me just point all my friends at this game I want to own:

http://www.phobe.com/sfi/accordion.html

Do check out the other games on the web site, every one of which is awesome in a similar yet different way. I'd love to invest in this game company, frankly, but I suspect it's going to remain privately held.

Okay, that rules. I confess, I looked for the price. (Didn't find it.)

Oh, I'm sure you would be a serious competitor. I'd play against you any day.

And I searched for the price and the release date when I first found this game, myself. Searched and searched.

Look at some of the other games. (Particularly "Age of Ornithology" or "Grand Theft Ottoman.")

I think it's a very well done hoax.

(coff, coff) Um, yes. Roger the well-done. The name and logo of the company are worth the price of admission by themselves.

I am particularly fond of Grand Theft Ottoman, but Accordion Hero II remains my fave.

Okay, I fell for your deadpan.

One thing I find really particularly funny about Accordion Hero is that the Guitar Hero games are much closer to being accordion simulations than guitar simulations. Sure it looks like a guitar. But those are buttons.

Congratulations on running a wonderful Potlatch, Kate. I'm still reeling from the view.

I've never looked at Guitar Hero itself, but I have heard that no matter how good you get at playing the game, it does you no good in learning how to play the real guitar.

There is an article on the development of Accordion Hero at http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20060314/freude_01.shtml. Its best feature is the prototype game controller, featuring cheesegraters.

Thanks, Randy. Egads, yes, that's an amazing view, even without clarity enough for all the mountains.

I assure you that Guitar Hero does help you, somewhat, with accordion playing. It's the buttons, you know. And the rhythm.

Did you see the Mountain make a ghostly appearance fairly late on Sunday? Just sort of shimmering in the sunlight behind a veil of haze. Muy mysterioso.

I didn't see it. The best views I saw from that suite were when we toured it last April, when the sky was clear in all directions.

I hope we can go there again. One wants to believe that we can have a great time at a convention as long as there are enough smart people to talk to, and I do in fact believe that, but I also believe that the right physical surroundings can give the convention a great big whacking boost, and that hotel has the right physical surroundings to the point of massive cliché.

I endorse all these sentiments completely!

Yes, thanks for a wonderful Potlatch! And I was glad you liked the picture of [livejournal.com profile] elisem in the robe you gave her.
