For various reasons, I've been unproductive in a number of areas recently, so I'm happy that I've made progress in several of those areas. Sometimes minor triumphs are the only ones available, and not to be sneezed at.

Last week, I finally got our van windshield replaced. It's needed doing for months, but it didn't reach the top of the list until now. It's a huge relief to be able to look through the windshield without peering around the crack between the two gravel nicks.

Yesterday, I hammered a handful of finishing nails into the utility shelves in my sewing area and hung up a mess of measuring instruments and curves. It's stunning how many different rulers turn out to be absolutely necessary for sewing, and it's great to be able to find them all easily now. (It's also stunning how many different kinds of cutting instruments I need, but I'm not hanging any of them on the wall.)

Today, I mailed the muslin for my first serious sewing commission off. It was fabulous to put it in the mail, confident that the pattern will be satisfactory.

In celebration, I'm working on a pattern for myself that I've wanted to make for a while. I make pants for myself all the time, but I hesitate to make any top that needs to fit correctly because there are so many changes that need to be made to the pattern to accommodate my bosom. I started making myself a sloper more than a year ago, but put it aside because other stuff needed attention more urgently. Other stuff can wait. If I'm going to be the proprietor of a custom sewing business, I need to display my handiwork on my upper body as well as on my lower body.
