Very early this morning outside the Potlatch hotel, some cops on bicycles came across a drug deal in process in a car in a parking lot nearby. In the process of stopping and arresting the suspects (I had to fight really hard not to say the perpetrators; I guess I didn't fight hard enough), the cops shot out the tires of the drug dealer's car. No one was injured.

We were not there. Our car was not there. No one we know was there. Elise saw it from her hotel room, but without knowing what was going on.

I'm so glad no one or nothing we know was shot this morning. It is scary to think of you that close to that kind of shooting, and I'm glad you weren't caught in the crossfire.

No, no, no, no. I have been unclear. We weren't there. Our car was not there. The car of which I spoke was the car of the persons engaged in the drug transaction. No one was shot. There was no crossfire. The cops shot at the tires of the car; the people in the car did not shoot at anyone.

What kind of lame drug dealers were they, anyway? Aren't drug dealers born with uzis in their hands?

That neighborhood certainly has become interesting in the past couple of years. Or at least I don't remember hearing about prostitutes working that street last time.
