With one brownie remaining of the two batches I baked over the weekend, I decided to let my granddaughter eat it. She would appreciate it more than I would, and I can always bake more brownies. I have sufficient self-restraint and overall adulthood to leave the treat to the kid and not eat it myself. I'd have to remind myself to be noble until she got around to eating it, some time after lunch; I'd have to remind myself every time I ran into the brownie in the kitchen, but it wouldn't be long. I could get myself some fruit for a wholesome snack while remembering not to deprive that innocent young person of her small treat.

She had already eaten the last brownie for breakfast. All that nobility for nothing.
