Following the example of [livejournal.com profile] akirlu, who was in turn inspired by [livejournal.com profile] scarlettina:

I will do my best to make something handmade for the first five people who comment to this post. They are encouraged in turn to post this same message and make something by hand for the first five people who comment on their respective posts. The rules are it has to be handmade by you and they must receive it before 2012 ends...who's in with me?

I note that my hands work in fabric, paper, beads, wire, glue, words, food, plants, and procrastination. We can come up with a suitable medium for the project together, but whatever it is has to be limited enough in scope that I'll actually do it.

Substantial meme mutation has occurred. Guess which parts I changed and win a gold star.

I am not so greedy for things as I am for people. How about food? That way maybe I get to see you?

Oooh, great choice. I have to work in a certain amount of procrastination first, because my sister is coming to visit next week, but let's do some back and forth about scheduling for the first week of February or so?

About the only thing I make by hand is code. And the very occasional, very simple graphic cut & paste.
All of which seems a drug on the market nowabouts.
So I won't do an elementary text compare to get the gold star.
Nor claim a free fufu, though come Wiscon, I may be able to pay for that thingy I asked about lo these many years ago.

I'm uncertain if I'll ever be able to make that particular thingy, given that the kimono were dry cleaned at some point. I've tried airing them in the garden and washing them, but it's damn hard to get old dry cleaning chemicals out of fabric. The fabric is still too toxic for me to work with, so I should just hand them back to you and suggest that you find a seamstress in the same city where you live, preferably one without chemical sensitivity.

I'll make you a smaller fufu, though.

Yes, limiting scope, that is the trick. Count me in, please.

Okay. Green. You're getting something green.

I'm charmed by the idea of this meme, but my creativity is not being expressed in objects at this time, so I'll just watch from the sidelines.
