I am a devoted grandparent, and I am spending an inordinate amount of time making a Halloween costume this weekend which I'll have to mail Monday so the grandchild will have it in time, but I draw the line at trying to find authentic fire rat fur from which to make the costume. Chinese red cotton is good enough. She'll just have to fake the fire rat part, along with faking being a half-demon, half-human male with dog ears.

If I leave the sleeves detached at the shoulder and attached at the underarm, as in authentic medieval Japanese hitatare and as shown in Inu-yasha, will the granddaughter notice and approve, or will she just think I've made a defective kimono?

hmmm...

Good question. I flipped through Inu Yasha 22, and the drawings were somewhat inconclusive - we were thinking if we could show her the drawing, she would approve. Then, it occured to me, will it be sturdy enough to stand up to kid use if it's authentic?

From context, I assume this is my old friend Tim, and not Mr. Anonymous at all.

How are you going to get your heads into the pumpkins? Oh, wait, you're talking about porch decorations, not costumes

It's Tim Kyger, yes it is, and I'm somehow not a LiveJournal user, so I'm being forced by The System to be Anoymous.

Can I now claim all of the royalities on all that music?

I can't wait to do these pumpkins.

You can claim anything you want, sweetie. Getting those claims honored is another question.

Happy birthday this weekend. I enjoy being 50, and I'm sure you will, too.

Kyger again.

Thanks for remembering; that's sweet of you. Now shut up and and over my present.

Did I tell you we have a foster kid now? 13 year old boy.

Are we nuts, or what? (What.)
