Halloween obsessions
Oct. 21st, 2005 08:51 pmI am a devoted grandparent, and I am spending an inordinate amount of time making a Halloween costume this weekend which I'll have to mail Monday so the grandchild will have it in time, but I draw the line at trying to find authentic fire rat fur from which to make the costume. Chinese red cotton is good enough. She'll just have to fake the fire rat part, along with faking being a half-demon, half-human male with dog ears.
If I leave the sleeves detached at the shoulder and attached at the underarm, as in authentic medieval Japanese hitatare and as shown in Inu-yasha, will the granddaughter notice and approve, or will she just think I've made a defective kimono?
