In the past three weeks, I have completed four sewing projects without buying new fabric for any of them. By my own private fabric-buying rule, I should now be allowed to buy four new pieces of fabric, but I am not going to do so. Instead, I am going on to a fifth project made entirely from fabric I already own.

Two of those projects were making garments from start to finish in a short time. One was finishing a project I had started and abandoned nearly a year ago; the fourth was just adding pockets to a purchased garment, improving both the utility and the appearance of that garment.

Funny, I just signed up for sewing lessons! I haven't sewn a thing for decades and I thought I'd better brush up. I have NO STASH. Our first project is going to be an apron, apparently. I have no use for little aprons, so I'll buy some cheap fabric to practice on. Our second project will be a zippered purse, which could be fun. I wonder if I remember how to thread my machine?

There is a certain satisfaction, I have found, in shopping in one's own stash. I have found this to be true when I work on beading projects; my stash is considerable. Any chance you may post pictures of your creations?

I am more likely to show off actual clothing I create, but if the purse comes out nice, sure. Can't imagine the apron will be worthy.

If I get back into sewing I foresee a little stash, but generally I don't buy things to save for later. I'm just not collector-y.

I am all admiration. Were they side seam pockets? Patch pockets? Something fancier? I must know. I'm definitely going to put side seam pockets into this walking skirt, I just have to dig out a pattern and not do them backwards. (I have a history of not remembering that the inside of the pocket is the right side of the fabric.)
