kate_schaeferOkay, the details aren't terribly detailed, but here it is: my stepdaughter Ruth has received and accepted a job offer. She starts at Amazon.com on the Monday after Thanksgiving, working as a software engineer, pursuing her destiny as an über-geek.

And let me mention again our immense gratitude to all of you who have helped along the way, with advice, childcare, living space, tolerance, job referrals, resume proofreading, technical books, homework help, ears for venting, furniture, moving assistance, cat-sitting, cleaning, the occasional beer and/or skittles, and that villa in France. She couldn't have done it without you, and we probably would have murdered her without you. Thanks.
